on the New Zealand Historic Places Trust's Register of Historic Places. Focus
Questions - What makes this place significant?
- What features
are there that reflect people's relationships to the place?
- What are the
different historical, spiritual, economic, aesthetic or recreational views held
about this place?
- How did this place impact on people's lives in the past?
- How
does this place continue to shape relationships between groups?
- Describe
the possible future consequences of individuals or groups that may have different
perspectives about the preservation of this place.
Using
a New Zealand map and information from the Register www.historic.org.nz/register,
locate the historic places shown at right. Each of these places has a story to
tell, write a sentence for each, giving information relating to its origin and
