Come along to the Auckland Branch Committee AGM. Guest speaker,
Phillip Hartley will speak about his work as a building surveyor
using examples of projects in the UK in conparison to the New Zeland
situation. Philip is a chartered building surveyor with an MA in
architectural history and a postgraduate diploma in buildin gconservation
currently working with Salmond Reed Architects Ltd.
Auckland flautist Melody Lin will perform a concert with pianist
Sarah Watkins in Highwic's ballroom. Meoldy is a doctoral student
at uckland Universitty School of Music. She will play Chou Wen-Chung's
Cursive, Tekemitsu's Itinerant for Solo Flute and Prokofiev's Flute
Sonata.
Admission: $10 adult, $5 for NZHPT members.
Play - A Victorian Posy

The three actors who performed the marvellous Old Wives Tales
play last year at Alberton are back again. This time the theme is
Victorian high jinks with prose, poetry and songs. The actors bring
to life historical elements in the wonderful setting of the ballroom
at Alberton.

Any Old Irons - an exhibition of laundry irons from the
private collection of Pauline Clarke. Pauline will be on hand to
demonstrate the use of the flat irons from the 19th century.
A variety of music for all to enjoy from beginners to advanced
students. Classical to jazz styles, paino and clarinet, plus a performance
by a special guest musician.

Explore
the early history of Northland from a tall ship - a very different
but authentic experience from on-land.
In partnership with the R Tucker Thompson Sailing Trust,
NZHPT historians accompany each cruise providing a wide range of
fascinating stories and insights.

The NZHPTs Auckland Branch is currently seeking members
to join the committee.
The Branch Committee supports the work of the NZHPT in the region.
The work is wide-ranging including educational and promotional events,
membership recruitment and identifying and researching heritage
places.
The membership of the Branch is made up of volunteers who are
current NZHPT members, and the committee will be elected at its
Annual General Meeting to be held at the NZHPT Northern Region Office,
Premier Building, 2 Durham Street East, Auckland City at 6pm on
August 11.

July -August: Beautiful Bindings
- a collection of books from the Cottage Collections. They range
from one printed in 1706 to 1931
September-October: Painted from Nature
- 40 botanical paintings of NZ flors done by Caroline Lush during
the 1880s. Caroline was the wife of Martin Lush, son of thr original
builder of Ewelme Cottage.
November-early December: A selection of books about or
by John Milton that are held at Ewelme Cottage, to mark the 400th
anniversary of Milton's death.
December-January: Christmas cards from the 1870s to the
mid 1960s
