Heritage Tours
There are organised heritage tours occuring regularly.
Because these trips and tours are organsied by private organisations,
please note that the Historic Places Trust does not necessarily endorse
them nor can we guarantee availability. Check operating times and fares
with the tour operator before you leave home.
Little River Rail Trail field trip
Hosted by NZHPT's Canterbury Branch Committee
Sunday 6 April, departs College of Education, Dovedale
Avenue, Christchurch 10 a.m. Returning approx 3.30 p.m.
Ian Hill, who is very knowledgeable about the history
of the Little Rver Railway will guide participants to
various points of interest along the route, starting
fro Hornby.
Parkin gis limited at some sites so numbers will also
be limited - travel by minivans or small bus depending
on the response. Bringing good walking shoes, food and
a drink.
Cost: $20 per person.

Tours to three homes not normally open to the public ranging
from historic to contemporary. This tour provides a delightful
mix of history, house style and hospitality. The lifestyles
of Christchurch people throughout Canterbury's history and
development are fascinating - it is by getting past the front
door that stories come alive. The tour includes a light afternoon
tea.

Guided tour of historic Reefton meeting characters from the
1880s when Reefton was a thriving gold mining town.
The tour can be extended to Blacks Point. The route and tour
time for the Heritage Reefton/ Heritage Reefton & Blacks
Point tour can range from one to two hours (depending upon
time available and the route people choose) with the Blacks
Point tour portion taking a minimum of another hour. Catering
for morning and afternoon tea, lunch, etc can be provided
as part of the itinerary (enquire at time of booking).
Ross Goldfields Tour

Gold interpretation tours run Monday to Friday at 10.30am
from the Ross Information Centre. Guides bring the fascinating
