Although Kaikoura falls within Canterbury region, members in this area are served by the Marlborough Branch Committee. Branches work closely with the Trusts Area Coordinators and their local communities to raise awareness of heritage issues as well as provide opportunities for participation in heritage related activities in their area. Regional OfficeThe Historic Places Trust's Southern Regional Office in Christchurch
is staffed by specialist advisers who are able to provide expert assistance
on heritage conservation issues, including resource management, registration
services, archaeology, Maori heritage as well as general information about
the Trust's functions, services and activities. Office staff work closely
with the local community as well as with local authorities, branch committees
and other stakeholders.. The Regional Office serves the whole of the Southern Region from the Clarence River to the Sub-Antarctic Islands.
