Otago: Heritage Trails, Walks & Drives

 

There are several heritage walks, trails or drives you can take around the Otago region.

Brochures describing heritage trails and other walks or self-drives are available form visitor information centres (i-sites), transport terminals and the Trust's Dunedin office.

  • Historic Dunedin: A Walking Guide to the City’s Architectural Gems published by the Otago Branch Committee, NZHPT. A new edition of this brochure is in production, due to be published early 2004.
  • Walk The City, Dunedin, New Zealand published by the Otago Settlers Museum.
  • New Zealand Heritage Trails brochure series, including

  • The Dunedin of Frances Hodgkins
    Dunedin was the birthplace and home for 32 years of the internationally renowned artist, Frances Hodgkins (1869-1947). This new brochure published by the Southern Heritage Trust, the Hocken Library and the Dunedin Public Art Gallery will guide you in the footsteps of Frances. Explore the sites of Hodgkins' homes, her schooling, training and studios. Visit collections held by Olveston historic house, Dunedin Public Art Gallery and the Hocken Library.
