The Register is the national schedule of New Zealand’s treasured heritage places. The NZHPT welcomes nominations for inclusion on the Register from members of the public. If you wish to nominate a historic place or area, please read this information sheet first.
These guidelines will help you to answer each question on the application form. Following the guidelines will strengthen your application.
Applications must be made on the official form. You may download a version of the application form (pdf) that you can print out and complete by hand, or if you prefer, you may complete the form electronically (writeable pdf) and email it back to us. To do this, download the the form, save it to your computer, and after you have completed it, email it to the Registrar. If you are filling in your form electronically, remember to mark the map included at the back of the form, or attach a map (pdf version) or Word document separately.
If you need assistance filling in the form, or would like further information about the registration process, please contact your local NZHPT office.
To nominate wahi tapu and wahi tapu areas for registration, contact the Maori Heritage Registrations Coordinator for an application form.
