Archaeological Reports Digital Library

The Historic Places Trust holds an extensive collection of unpublished archaeological reports - resulting from site surveys and excavations, both from research programmes and (more latterly) from authorities issued for the modification of archaeological sites. There are over 1500 volumes dating from the early 1970s to the present in the collection. The digital library will be updated regularly as more reports are filed with the Trust. There is no charge for obtaining copies of the reports.

Access

The reports are held in pdf format at the Trust's National Office in Wellington. The catalogue (Excel, 2 mb) for the digital library provides you with a summary of the reports held, listed by author, title, date, authority number, site number, and a unique identifier for each report held.

To obtain copies of the reports (as pdfs), email archaeology@historic.org.nz with:

  • The report identifier and title of the report(s) you require
  • Your name, and postal address
  • Your contact daytime telephone number.

The file sizes vary significantly from approximately 2mb to over 100mb, so where possible the reports will be emailed directly. Reports over approximately 5mb will be copied to a CD and posted to you. You may expect despatch within 3 days of placing your order, please allow additional time for postal delivery services.
